Here’s some discussion ideas… but don’t limit yourself to these – talk about ANYTHING in Chapter 1…
- What impression do you have of Nick, as the narrator?
- What do you think about Fitzgerald’s description of Tom, Daisy, and Jordan? Not just their physical descriptions, but they personalities, histories, interests and mannerisms?
- Gatsby is only mentioned in the first few chapters… but what do you think of him so far, based on the references to him?
- What comes to mind when you read the descriptions of Nick, Gatsby, and the Buchanans’ homes?
