Google Maps Tip – Start directions

Just a quick, favorite tip about Google Maps on mobile… After searching for a place, and getting its location on the map, it’s pretty normal/common to hit the blue “Directions” button – THEN tap the “Start” button. Instead, just tap-HOLD on the “Directions” button, and Google Maps will automatically start your driving navigation. Sure, it only saves a moment, but sometimes after tapping the “Directions” button, Maps can take a “long” time to come up with different routes for you to choose from… although for 99% of trips, …

Beware of Grundy Insurance

BEWARE of Grundy Insurance! Thankfully, I got a letter from California DMV telling me that I have NO car insurance on the DeLorean! That caused me to look up the policy, and sure enough, Grundy had cancelled my policy in JANUARY! Of course they say they sent me a letter in the mail… but I did not get it. However, I *DID* get a letter from DMV. Considering I’ve had a policy with them for three years, I would have thought an automated phone call, or automated email …

Makin’ Copies…

“In this day and age,” how is it that something as simple as the price for color copies is NOT easy to find online?! At least near Orange, CA, businesses have chosen not to share something that simple and time-saving on their websites. Aside from being simply annoying, it’s also an expense and interruption to the business that makes the customer call them, then interrupts an employee from helping a customer who is standing in front of them, to answer the phone and give a relatively simple answer. …

Amazon Prime Failed “Guarantee”

I’d say that “most” people like Amazon. I certainly do. But that that “like” doesn’t extend forever. As usual, bad customer service is the point of this post. I’ve had Amazon Prime since 2009. And I order way too much stuff from Amazon. It’s become something that most Amazon Prime buyers tend to do… over-shop. One of the reasons people tend to over-shop, is the “free” delivery on many items. And with the advent of “FREE Same-Day Delivery” people are coming to rely on Amazon more and more. …

DON’T ANSWER THE PHONE IF YOU’RE BUSY!

Since mobile phones became a body-part (meaning, just about every adult in the modern world has one,) expectations and etiquette of person-to-person communications have changed drastically. Now that “everyone” has a phone in the palm of their hand for HOURS every day, some people have turned into Pavlov’s dogs – they feel that they MUST answer a ringing phone, regardless of their current situation. STOP IT! The overwhelming majority of phone calls are not life-or-death. They aren’t ‘the radio station is calling to give you a million dollars.’ …
